SANS What We Do

Rescue and Treatment

Rescue and Treatment

It is hard to see animals suffer and let to die in many places due to lack of medical aid. SANS receives rescue calls every single day to come to the aid of abandoned animals, abused animals, animals who are injured after being hit by a vehicle, those with severe wounds, illnesses, burns, internal and external injuries. We answer and respond to all such calls and give immediate treatment and care where needed.
SANS also helps by providing free treatments for the animals and birds brought by the rescuers from various areas. By this act, we have been able to provide good support to both the rescuers and their rescued and ensure that the cycle of positivity is continued. Once treated and cured these birds and animals are released back to their respective habitats. Those animals that have been rescued from being abandoned and abused are put for adoption after they are completely cured and treated by expert vets.

Adoption

Why to look for buying a pet and companion, when SANS helps you in adopting a new member to your family with ease? All animals put up for adoption by SANS are healthy and provided with full veterinary checks. Available animals will have a profile that explains their characteristics and the kind of home that would make them happy.
When animals are adopted, we provide free food and other essentials for the first month, free vaccinations and sterilization at the appropriate time and free veterinary treatment during the first year. This helps create a strong human–animal bond and offers empathy to the voiceless, despite our busy lifestyles. Further, individuals adopting animals are not burdened with the maintenance cost.

Rehoming

Rehoming

Rehoming is the process of finding a new home for a pet. It is not abandonment and must never be considered as such. We understand that there may be various reasons for you to seek a pet rehoming service, be it allergies, inability to care or financial distress. At SANS, we welcome you with open arms, without any judgement, criticism or stigma and work with you find the best rehoming possibilities for your well-loved pet.
We understand that rehoming is a difficult decision both for the owner and the pet and we ensure that we help balance emotions and emotional well-being. SANS trust helps you to find a loving home for your pet so pets can go directly from one good home to another.

Animal Birth Control

Every year, millions of cats and dogs are let to struggle and survive or die on streets or euthanized in animal shelters because there are more pets than there are responsible homes for them. These sufferings and deaths can be controlled by spaying and neutering them at the right time. Thus, generations of animal suffering can be stopped. SANS have been conducting free ABC camps at our hospitals regularly.
Spay and neuter surgeries are amongst the commonly performed animal surgeries. Most animals experience relatively little discomfort and are back to their normal activities within a day or two.
Experiences of animal lovers and scientific research proves that sterilized animals live longer and happier lives. Further, spaying eliminates the risk of uterine cancer and mammary cancer, while neutering prevents testicular cancer, and reduces the risk of prostate cancer. These animals are less likely to contract deadly, contagious diseases, such as feline AIDS and feline leukaemia that are spread through bodily fluids.
SANS undertakes animal birth control activities both for pets and abandoned animals depending on a case by case basis. We also work closely with vets and keep abreast in the latest techniques of surgical and non-surgical methods available for sterilizations to allow for maximum comfort for animals.

Vaccinations

Vaccinations

Vaccinations are an effective method to reduce disease burden in pets and animals. Irrespective of the animal’s age, vaccines are a key tool in maintaining animal health and welfare and protect against killer diseases. Vaccines continue to play an increasingly vital role in preventative health and disease control programmes in animals. Vaccinations are also compulsory in case your pet is travelling abroad.
Whenever we rescue an animal or receive a distressed animal, first given them a complete medical check-up. After this, we give a preliminary vaccination and an anti-rabies vaccination. We also put up anti-rabies vaccination camps in various areas for the safety and wellness of both humans and animals.

Humane Education and Awareness

SANS provides workshops on humane issues for children teaching them how to care for the animals in their homes and in their communities, importance of conservation of birds and focuses on fostering kindness and awareness toward animals. Children who have difficulty relating to adults or peers often find a much-needed friend in an animal. Lively discussions are encouraged during the session, which allows the children to exchange ideas and stories and interact with each other. We also run formative sessions and teach about animal empathy and help build strong human–animal bonds.

Project Greenery

Project Greenery

Trees provides habitat to various species. They are amazingly efficient machines—constantly working to make Earth a healthier and more habitable planet. They are also called the lungs of the Earth because they absorb pollutants through their leaves, trapping, and filtering contaminants in the air and delivering oxygen.
Wherever trees are established, animal life and other plants are sure to follow, ensuring a healthier ecosystem. Trees provide shelter and food for a variety of birds and animals. Trees are used for food, shelter as a site for reproduction. Many animals also use trees for resting, nesting and for places from which to hunt or capture prey. Trees also provide foliage for some animals and shade for animals and humans. Fruit, leaves, buds and seedlings are extremely precious nutrients in the wild. In fact, every tree serves as a complex ecosystem for numerous living beings, including insects.
Considering the urgent need for planting trees, we give free saplings to individuals who adopt animals from us, apart from animal feed and essentials for the first month, vaccinations and medical check-ups for the first year. Let us all come together to collaborate a greener, cleaner and healthier planet and guide our future generations by example!

#LET’S FEED THE VOICELESS

There are millions of animals on the streets in the world that need our help for their daily survival. Our little efforts could bring some happiness in their lives. In addition to feeding hundreds of stray animals, SANS Animal Welfare Trust has created two programmes through which we could satisfy their everyday hunger and thirst.
RiceBag Distribution
Street Animals having no access to fresh food are forced to scavenge on scraps and leftovers from dirty dustbins and gutters. The most terrible event encountered is cases where magnanimous feeders struggle to keep their street animal's tummy filled every day, and go on to sacrifice most of their basic needs and save up for the food for the animals.
We from SANS started a Rice Bank and we distribute 300 kgs of rice and some dog and cat foods every month for the genuine feeders struggling to make their ends meet while also feeding their street animals.
Project Water Bowl
Water Bowls are an easy and meaningful way to serve stray animals and birds in your community with clean drinking water. Lack of clean drinking water leads to various health hazards like skin and viral infections, dehydration and may even result in death. @ SANS, we distribute free WaterBowls to the volunteers and feeders located in various places so that they can in turn help the animals and birds in their surroundings quench their thirst all through the year.
#LET’S FEED THE VOICELESS

Feeding Project

Feeding Project

We from SANS Animal Welfare Trust are feeding around 300 to 350 strays a day who dont have anyone but depend on us for their daily meal and adding more numbers each day. We feel very Happy and Heart Warming to see the infinite love and affection they show us everyday while going to feed them.
Sharing food, love, happiness and most importantly kindness and compassion can make a huge positive difference in their lives. And thats what we are trying to do.
This is not by any means a solution to this overwhelming problem. Our little efforts could keep their tummy filled atleast in a single meal and bring some happiness in their lives on that day as we can never imagine the difficulties they go through on streets everyday.

Your Help Can Save Many Lives!

SANS extends its helping hands in providing free medical treatments for homeless animals/birds and abandoned pets, vaccinating them, feeding the strays and birds every day and other activities. Big or small, your support plays a crucial role in changing the lives of these animals and helps us to provide them with the best care. Some portion will be used for our Rice and Water Bowl projects in #Letsfeedthevoiceless programme.
